> TNCEP (Tennessee Nutrition & Consumer Education Program)

The mission of the TNCEP program is to:
1. Emplower Food Stamp families to move toward self-sufficiency by effectively using Food Stamps and related resources.

2. Reduce the risk of inadequate nutrition through a comprehensive nutrition and consumer education program.

The program will focus on five nutrition-related core programs:
1. Dietary Quality
2. Food Security
3. Food Safety
4. Food Resource Management/Shopping Behavior
5. System and Environmental Changes

Stewart County TNCEP will be partnering with the Stewart County School System, Adult Learning Center, Family Resource Center, Head Start, Coordinated School Health Program, Health Council, WIC and Stewart County Health Department.
 
> Parenting Apart

Parenting Apart Classes are court ordered divorce classes for parents of minor children. These classes are offered every other month in Stewart County. Classes cost $30.00 for pre-registered participants, and $40.00 for registration at the door. For dates and times, and to register contact the extension office at 931-232-5682.
 
> FIT (Fitting It Together)

The FCS Agent partners with the Stewart County Juvenile Courts to teach students about attitudes, values, feelings, responsible decisions, communication, and building relationships.
 
> Tai Chi
Contact: Annette Cole
Tai Chi is practiced throughout the world for its many health benefits. Tai Chi strengthens and mobilizes joints and muscles to improve physical fitness and mental relaxation. It is especially suitable as a therapy for arthritis because its movements are slow and gentle, and the level of exertion can be adjusted to suit each person's physical condition.

The Stewart County Extension partners with the Stewart County Senior Citizens Center to teach Tai Chi on Tuesdays at 10:00am.
 
> Dining with Diabetes

Stewart County FCS Agent collaborates with the Stewart County Health Department to deliver Dining with Diabetes. It is a program designed for people with diabetes, their family members, caregivers and support persons. We are committed to increasing community awareness about diabetes.
